We purchased a new property to where the previous owner had it on the platform. We closed on the house at the end of October, I got my county license, everything is in my name but all of a sudden 5 weeks later they shut us down for a duplicate listing. The old listing is not live, I have been in appeal for a week now, no headway, we provided the purchase documentation as well as the license info. We also have hosted 2 guests stays as well, our first review on the new property is an 5 star. Any suggestions as to what else we could try? Im not a new host, I have been a super host for 6 years now with a 4.99 rating with 91 reviews. Sure seems like this could have been handled better. Thanks
I saw similar posts about the subject (search on the community) , for example recently :
It seems very difficult to relist a property which has been listed on Airbnb by a previous owner/host.
Especcially when there are issues reported during that time period. Mabe you can inquire if there were issues reported ?
I saw in another post it can at least take 1 year before it is allowed to relist such a property.
There were no issues at all with the previous owner. It had only been on the platform a few months. All stays were 5 stars. They had 16 bookings and 16 5 star reviews. We got one under our belt and it was also a 5 star. It’s a beautiful property. Thanks for your feedback.
Are you sure there were no issues with the previous listing? Reviews don't always tell the whole story. If the previous Host cancelled stays, or other problems, Airbnb considers the new listing as a violation of their circumvention policy.
Unless the previous owner discloses any issues, you are not able to tell by reviews alone if there were any.
Nothing was disclosed and no information was really given from Airbnb other than it was a duplicate listing.
Hi @Michelle1818 ,
if you haven't already, you'll need to get your situation in front of human eye balls that are NOT part of a call center.
- consider tagging several community managers here at this community center asking for help to escalate. You'll need to add your listing ID as they won't have access to any of that info.
- consider posting on AIRBNB social media and ask for help
Good luck!
That’s a good idea. I will absolutely do that. I actually have a couple hundred thousand followers on social media so maybe that would be a good route to take. Thanks for your comment. I appreciate it
@Michelle1818 . Sounds like the bots are in charge so @Greystone0 advice is spot on.
As this is causing a loss of business (have they paid you yet?) I'd be getting ready with a legal letter to hold them responsible for any loss/delay of income etc.
So start with those words in a message, link the history and keep raising until you get a resolution.
And let us know how you get on.
I can’t get anyone to help. Just keep going in circles. They just keep saying they have to wait on an appeal. I provided the deed transfer and our new rental license from the county. Nothing seems to matter. I was considering writing and actual letter and mailing it to one of the executives. I was hoping hard work and doing the right thing would help. Thanks so much for your comment.
