April 7, 2023 a guest threatened another resident with a weapon on property grounds which led to an immediate termination of lease.
I put in a reimbursement request after pleading with the leasing office to stay in my home and never sublet again. However, their policies in the lease state that for those type of instances, myself and my guest had to vacate the premises and surrender the property immediately.
I was reassured that I would be reimbursed my hotel stay while I await resolution for my claim as soon as I submit the receipt. Nothing. It’s been over 2 months and I’ve been switched to several different agents who all go on leave right after being handed my case and I’m racking up debt by the day waiting for a resolution of some sort.
This is far more than just damages to a piece of furniture. I have been displaced from my home and still not being shown a sense of urgency! Not to mention, loss in compensation, legal fees, storage of my furniture, etc.
Way to go AirBnb.
Sorry your post doesn't make much sense @Aliyah54
Can you start again.
Are you saying you were a host who was illegally sub letting a room against the terms of your lease @Aliyah54 ?
If you have been evicted for illegally sub letting a room why are you having to stay in a hotel and who said they would reimburse you for the costs of staying there ?
why are you continuing to stay in a hotel and rack up storage fees etc
what does this situation have to do with Airbnb?
I was evicted for the brandishing of a weapon. Not for subletting.
Still confused @Aliyah54 why would you expect Airbnb who are a marketing company for short term rentals to pick up the tab for your hotel and storage because you hosted a guest who caused you to get evicted from your rental.
On what grounds do you feel Airbnb has liability here.
If you are allowed to sub let for short term rentals in your lease it's very sad that your problematic guest caused you to be evicted. Presumably you had ticked the box on your listing to say you don't accept guests who carry guns?
Again, when the issue came about, the safety team and the claims department both assured me that this was covered under the host’s aircover because it is a loss, unexpected cleaning, etc. They do the screening for these guests, no?
If it is truly top-bottom coverage, I lost the entire apartment due to this guests actions. That needs to be replaced.
My issue is not whether they are liable. They have already determined that. My issue is that now that all the documents are sent in as requested & it has been approved, where is the reimbursement? Every time they switch me to a new agent, time starts over.
@Aliyah54 I am struggling to see why Airbnb would cover this situation. Certainly not on an ongoing basis.
Maybe I wasn’t clear in my explanation. The actions of my guest was the reason I was evicted. Not for subletting my unit. This was a safety issue that led to me having to cancel upcoming reservations. Wasn’t meant to be on an ongoing basis.
