Instant booking - what qualifies as a 'good track record' for a guest?

How is it possible a guest with one or more trips (and no feedback to date) is deemed by Airbnb as having a 'good track record', enabling them to use Instant Book without being vetted by the host? No feedback is neither good nor bad necessarily, but is more likely to be a negative than a positive in my experience - therefore this practice puts the host's property/reputation at risk unecessarily.

Hello @Juan84

I agree with you Juan and Airbnb have changed their "good track record" help link and it now reads this:

All guests meet Airbnb’s booking requirements, but you’re welcome to add more at any time in your Booking settings:

  • Good track record: completed a reservation without incident or bad reviews
  • Pre-reservation message: Create a preset message with questions for guests to respond to when making a reservation

Note: You must turn on Instant Book to add guest requirements to your listing.

The change is subtle but significant since the good track record now says that if there is no BAD review or indeed ANY review they qualify for IB.

So that pre-reservation message from hosts is very important to set the boundaries I think.  From what I read on various forums,  a lot of hosts have dropped IB because of this new lax "good track record".

All the best
Joëlle

Another reason not to use IB is Airbnb considers a 4.0 rating as "good" and a guest with a 4.0 rating will be allowed to IB even if "Good Track Record" turned ON.
