Hello all, I was wondering if anyone knew of any company that provides Airbnb insurance for Oshawa. I have tried getting quotes from all the popular ones Duuo, Squareone, etc.. One of the bylaws the city has in order to get the license is that they be added as " Additional insured " as well as be given 15 day notice of any material change in the policy. Nobody seems to want to add the city as " Additional Insured ". Everybody seems be giving flat out no's. My question is any know of any insurance company that will be willing to accommodate? Any Oshawa folks here that have airbnb insurance already and have recommendations? Thanks in advance!
Try to join the Airbnb Facebook group for hosts in Oshawa to get more insights on this, I think this is the best thing you can do.
Hey @Maheer2 ! I'd do exactly as @Mayor9 suggested. 🙂 You can find the Facebook Host Clubs here: https://community.withairbnb.com/t5/Get-Local/ct-p/en_clubs
@Mayor9 thanks for jumping in and helping out!
You're welcome
Hi, Maheer,
I hope you are doing well. I just saw your question, looking for this same type of information online, as I am looking to get a license to do Airbnb in Oshawa and I ran against the same obstacle as you. Have you found an insurance company that would list the city as an additional insured and if so, would you tell me the name and phone number?
Thanks in advance,
Gabor

Hello Mayer

@Maheer2, My place recently visited by one of the by-law officer from City of Oshawa and officer asked for license to operate AirBnB business. As one of the conditions to obtain license, it is necessary to have insurance of 2 Million and add city as additional insurer. So, I tried calling all major insurance providers in GTA and nobody seem to be allowing addition of City of Oshawa as additional insurer. I think with this move, City is trying to close down all AirBnB business in area or make them illegal to operate so that more people start offering their property for Long Term Rental.
Hi, I can help you out with this.
