Is Airbnb asking Host for theri SS# for tax purposes

I am an Airbnb Host and received an email from Airbnb asking for My SS# for tax purposes, was this sent out by Airbnb and was is it legitimate?

@Sally792 , can you copy the email message you received from Airbnb, asking for your social security number for tax purposes.  I sure hope they are not asking Hosts for sensitive tax information!

I received a survey yesterday from the Airbnb Research team.  They were asking questions about how I would react to giving the owners tax ID information to Airbnb, or they would with hold 30% of income for the IRS.  They even mentioned a start date of Dec. 1, 2021.  I'm still shocked by this survey; I did a search and  there is no mention of anyone else on the community receiving the survey.    I just posted on the community 30 mins. ago, check it out.
