Latest Updates for Account Identification/blocked my calendar out

Hello everyone,

As you know we must have up-to-date identification uploaded (I just was notified today). I tried uploading them, but my drivers license expired on my birthday March. I run two business's and take care of my elderly mother. I just noticed it expired!!

I have made three calls to Airbnb due to my account calendar being blocked (long-term Superhost-5 years-I gave them this ID when I started my account).  I am unable to get a renewed drivers license until 7/24/25 because the DMV makes us make appointments.

They won't go by my social security card either. Can't they take that and have a Zoom call with me to verify this way until July???

So now my income is blocked for 3.5 months they said until I provide something like a passport or valid "not expired" license. Although I understand, there must be SOME legroom here. I don't have a passport, I just never traveled internationally.

A thought because I too accidently let my license expire years ago.  It happens.  Getting a state ID was faster then the license or passport and worked because everyone wants a legal ID even to go your doctor.  Never forgot again haha but nobody is perfect.

In this situation, you might be able to get a rush/expedited passport quicker than renewing your driver's license in July.

Not intended impolite, but Airbnb accepts your legal form of ID which can be a State ID for those of us no longer able to drive.

Thanks for pointing that out....

I don't think that would help @Denise1112 though, as it sounds like her state is requiring appointments for Driver's License Renewal and probably she would need an appointment as well for an State ID card.  It's worth a shot though 😊

If you let your license expire the State requires verification again you are able to perform the abilities a license grants you

For a State ID there is less demand and all the State is validating is information of my identity,

Hello again,

I got my driver's license yesterday by emergency and now AIRBNB won't take it! They said we are sorry but it can't be a copy of your license from the DMV. It's the actual copy of what the DMV gives to us when you get your license made. 

THIS IS ABSURD! Every time I try to upload it it keeps saying no paper is allowed. The representatives do nothing for me. I take care of my mother too and I need my money. I think they no longer want me on the platform at this point. Maybe another place will have my SUPERHOST 5-year business!

So Airbnb is not accepting the temporary license they give you until you get the actual license in the mail?

Yes! Not only that, I just got off the phone with them (1 hour) as they led me to believe it would work if we tried again. I told them and the other reps that my state mails it to us and it will be whenever, who knows. I tried over and over to upload the PAPER DRIVERS LICENSE from the DMV, which contains when I went, original signature of the officer there, etc., and again it failed to work. I uploaded and did every thing they told me on the phone. This is now the fourth call of disappointment with them. 

The picture of the DMV document gives me a return error of "you can't use a paper document"! They told me to wait until it comes in the mail. How is I can drive my car and show a police officer the document and he accepts it, but Airbnb doesn't trust a SUPERHOST OF 5 years' DMV document of an actual copy of what the drivers license will look like? I need money and I need a business that has my back. They don't.

I seem to recall I had to use my actual, plastic driver's license when I verified my ID and that is probably why it's not working.

I'm not sure what else you can do at this point except wait for the plastic Driver's License to be mailed to you. Can you contact the State and ask them to expedite that or send to you via overnight (Fed Ex) and you will pay the shipping? 

At this point it wouldn't be worth trying to get another form of ID. @Marie8425 did mention a State ID card is acceptable but that would only work if you got the actual ID card and not a paper temporary one. That might be worth asking about that. 

So sorry....I wish I could offer other ideas, but Airbnb decides what is acceptable as to ID verification documentation.

I was able to get the plastic version of a State ID in both Hawaii and Arizona mailed to me in less than 10 days.  Much quicker.  You have my support, like I said I too found out the hard way don't not pay attention again,  It happens though, none of us perfect,  Yuck.
