We have a 3 bed, 2 bath second home. We lock the owners suite and advertise 2 bed, 1 bath.

thanks good idea

Our situation isn't exactly that but we needed some of the closet space and were able to partition the large walk in closet so that the back 2/3 is ours, with a locked door. Our guests are short stays and the large walk in would be a waste anyway.

I would probably answer your question in another way.

I sold my expensive bags on poshmark and ebay and has $0 cash stored at my pricipal house.

downsized as much as possible.

Still, my empty LV brown boxes are constantly searched and opened in garage.

So, personal stuff is better to be not expensive before you store them in the same house you are hosting.

Thank you.  Good to know.  Cannot imagine going through owner’s things in the properties we Airbnb’s!

If you have a garage, you could potentially let them use the house but not the garage.if you don't have a lot of personal things, you could install a lock on a closet or purchase a closet with a lock, which you could put in the garage.
