Looking for a deal

Looking for a deal

Sales and marketing my whole career leads me to consider price first to get guest attention to look further.  So you have no bookings?  Check others in your area and check their calendar and price.  Bring price lower than anyone.  Brings your listing to the top.  Everyone wants a deal.  Doesn't matter how much money they make.  They are looking for the best price.

Lower the price, get your 5 star history and you will have booking .  Then with that you can begin to raise the price.

Yes absolutely appreciate  @Diana2792  you may run an STR where people book mainly on price

However international research carried out by Airbnb who have 8.1 million listings  show that certainly is not the case for most guests.

@Diana2792

Airbnb already offers an option in the search system to filter on a certain min-max pricelevel,

but maybe they should also add an option to sort the results on price ?

Hi @Emiel1

I think many guests would love to be able to sort by price, but I don't think it's an option given how the Airbnb search is set up. Sites that have a "sort by price" option have to have a simple structure that links each listing to a specific location. When I search my town on such a site, there's a finite number of listings classified as part of my town, and those available on certain dates can be sorted from lowest to highest price. As we know Airbnb's algorithm is very complex - it pulls in results from nearby as needed, and adapts the search to what it has learnt about the person searching. So results can be filtered (and then more pulled in to fill the display), but I don't think sorting can be an option.

(Fortunately for hosts, as I think that would really have made it impossible to for us to get a fair price. As things are, it's already tough enough out there!😃)

Actually research for Airbnb shows many guests don't book on price as the main criteria it's more around location , amenties, rating and reviews. @Diana2792 (My day job is in marketing and communications).

I am in the top 10% price wise for my type of accommodation in my location but am still one of the highest rankings and get all the bookings I need from Airbnb.

yes absolutely some guests will be price sensitive but I'm not looking for guests that book based on but on value for money .?

I agree with @Emiel1 that guests should be able to search by price.

I have my own research data from hundreds who have booked and relaying their comments.  Only offering my observations to those with no bookings as I see this is a popular topic
