I am shocked to find that now Airbnb is holding host payouts for 30 days!! This is a new term that make no sense to me. How can Airbnb think that host can operate for 30 days wihout payout specially after initial investment in furniture, cleaning supplies, amenities, decoration, toiletries, etc... This is very bad business practice in my opinion, and makes no sense to me....
I have refered many hosts in the past becuase I had great experience and because I would get paid 24 hours after booking completed, but now this experience is shattered with this non sense..
Anybody outhere think this is fair?
I spent about $3000 an apartment furnishing them. If this was in place when I stated I would have been furious. Especially since they dont have it prominently displayed before you decide to host.
I keep praying for another option.

Hi Deb
My best friend post 50 plus homes on VRBO and enjoys the simple fact that when a guests checks in on any of her vrbo listing, the monies have been collected and paid that very day of check in. I am still asking 6 months later to Airbnb as to why a guests can stay in my home and I dont' get paid until sometimes after 38 hours have passed from check in. Its never 24, its much longer than that. If a guest check ins at 3pm. at a hotel, the hotel is already paid, if a guests checks in with one of our local Bed and Breakfast here in Hawaii, my girlfriend the owner has already gotten paid before the guest even arrives....yet we are paid after the guest has checked in, woken up, eaten a delicious breakfast, goes to the beach, checks out, and I still have not been paid...how is that right?
I am seriously considering not allowing ONE NIGHT stays anymore ....this being one of the reasons. I know most Hawaii hosts don't allow ONE NIGHT stays for various reasons, but late payments was one of the reasons. Thoughts on why this is policy to pay Hosts the next day? Everything else is great....its just this one thing. Thanks for your time in reading my post. Aloha
If you feel that me or another host have helped you, feel free to click on the "thumbs up"
Yes i have gotten to my own no more one night stays, its too much work getting a space ready for a one night fee, just not worth the time. With a hotel they dont mind the one nights because they are getting top dollar and they have staff...
What a "holier than thou" attitude you have! It would be completely unacceptable for ANYONE to do a job of any magnitude and not get paid for 30 days unless they were told this in the beginning. This is worse.
Agreed, where does someone render services then have to wait 30 days for payment...
If the guest hasnt complained and airbnb approved the hsot then a payment shouldnt be held for 30 days, maybe 3-7 days max would be acceptable, but to hold a payment for 30 days is unreasonable, as it is already a task and work needed to ready a place for a guest, then after the guest leave, you are working again getting ready for the next guest...
I am a new host and find this to be quite appalling.
The "security measures" put in place penalizing the host is unacceptable. If the company put this in red lettering upon a person posting their property I certainly wouldn't have a problem with it. Wait, yes I would but the facts are that AirbNb collects the money up front from the guest. It makes no sense for me to have to wait 30 days to get paid.
You must be a very new host @SiSi6 as you don't have a listing on your profile.
Its only for 30 days after your 1st reservation, then it reverts to payment 24hrs after checkin, not exactly the end of the world. Lots of information is available, but just like guests don't read listings, most new hosts do not bother to read how being a host will impact them.
Jeff, you blame hosts for Airbnb not doing what they said they will do? My guest paid in early April, arrived May 1st and it is now June 5th, and I’ve not been paid!
Im so frustrated, itsi been more than 30days since my guests used my property but until now i haven't got paid yet. What should I do?
Hi there @Christopher--Tope-0
Sorry to hear you are having trouble with your first payment. Can you confirm you have contact Customer Support on this one?
Thanks
Hi, I'm a newbie and have had 3 bookings, two of them have just completed their stays. Because of trouble with airbnb site glitch during listing, took a long time to get it up and running, then tried to figure out payout and found that i might not get paid for 30 days. Because the third booking will be in 3 weeks and is a long term stay of over a month, this scared me ... would i not get paid till July while people already staying for weeks? I found this thread. I just received an email from airbnb that I just got payout for first two bookings. I hope that means I will get payout for month long booking within 24 hours as well. When I read their payout policy, it said that for new hosts they "may " hold payout for 30 days. I'm not sure what their criteria are for holding or not for 30 days, but apparently some new hosts like myself do get payout before 30 days. I have good reviews as a guest from the last few years and got two 5 star reviews for recent bookings. I also gave government ID as a guest a year ago, so perhaps that helps them to decide. I hope this helps other hosts to know, because it was very upsetting to me to think I wouldn't be paid for such a long time. Now I just need to figure out how to get another booking before third booking, because I also found out airbnb doesn't show star ratings till after 3rd review, which means less visibility and the thrid booking won't leave a review for weeks. Since first listing, and 4 requests within 24 hrs, I'm getting no interest. Any advice appreciated.
This would not be as huge an issue if hosts knew upfront, before becoming hosts, of the 30 day hold on long term rentals. My advice is be patient because at end, waiting isn’t death and it will work out. Please don’t be discouraged. Airbnb must make the policy more clear before people agree to host. It’s imperative and good business sense. New hosts, it will be okay. I have had guests who came to me after traveling across seas to a fake Airbnb listing. It’s horrible. Unfortunately, fraud is real. If people hadn’t had these horrible experiences, the policy wouldn’t have been created. It’s sad. Don’t worry, I wish you all success!
i have not got paid in 11 days after first check in by a customer and still counting days for when Airbnb will pay. Everytime i call airbnb they said payment was sent to payoneer but when checking with payoneer there is no answer. Getting tired of Airbnb long payment hold/delays and will not recommend airbnb for anyone in the future.
Did you receive your outstanding payments and an explanation from ABB why you were not been paid in a fashionable manner?
