New hosts and mortgages

New hosts and mortgages

Hi, I've just signed up to host, in fact I have my first guests arriving this weekend. Thinking that I'd looked into everything, crossed my T's and dotted my I's but now I'm just now reading that I could actually be prohibited from hosting all together. Is hosting on AirBnB something I need to declare to my mortgage lender before I actually accept any bookings?

Hi there @Chris16464, I think the best thing to do is to speak with your bank first, and with all relevant parties involved. Depending on where you live, please take a look at this article from the Help Center https://www.airbnb.com/help/article/1379

I hope this helps!

@Chris16464 you don't say what country you are in but certainly in the UK you would need a mortgage that allows short term rentals and a good insurance policy.

Of course they may never find out and, if they do the worst they can do is call in your mortgage!
