The payment of the flat tax ("cedolare secca") directly by Airbnb will make things much easier for fiscally honest Italian hosts.
Ideally, Airbnb should enter into agreements with all major municipalities to pay the tourist tax directly as well.
I will just point out one thing. When Airbnb writes that 'will not seek to recover withholding taxes from hosts for this period' and when it refers to omitted or late payments of taxes, it seems that (all) hosts have failed to pay taxes on their income so far.
This is not the case. I, for example, like many other hosts, have always paid them (both tourist tax and income tax or cedolare secca).
Perhaps this should be clarified in further info on this matter.
