Hi, I'm Ian and I rent out a cottage in Rutland in the UK. I have had numerous guests over the last 12 months and have enjoyed hosting some really lovely people. What I haven't enjoyed is dealing with Airbnb's lengthy delays in paying me the money I am owed.
I have come on to the community center to try and get some information as to why it takes Airbnb 10 days to pay me the money they owe me in respect of a guest. I have tried interacting with support, but they just make up fanciful excuses which, as someone with 30 years experience of international and domestic payments systems, I find insulting. Better to say "I don't know, but I'll find out", rather than make stuff up!
Back in 2019 Airbnb hosts in the UK used to be paid within 24 hours of receiving their email confirming the funds had been released. Now it can take anything from, at best 3 days, up to 12 days to get the money from Citibank in Dublin. Why? US hosts get their money into their banks accounts through Fast Pay in a matter of minutes. Outside the US we wait for days and days for the money to appear in our bank accounts. Why the huge delay?
