Rejected claim by insurance?

Has anyone filed a claim with their insurance which was rejected?

We're starting to airbnb out our vacation home in WA and deciding which insurance to go with. I'm currently with Amica, but they don't seem to have specific STR coverage so looking to switch insurance for the house.

Figured I'd stay away from the insurance co's rejecting claims.

All insurance companies will reject invalid claims @Jim2416

Your focus should be those who offer STR insurance which gives you the cover you want and which has good reviews .

@Jim2416

Lots of Hosts having a hard time finding insurance specifically for STR; landlord insurance is NOT the same. STR insurance will be more expensive; but I always suggest Hosts have it. Some provide add-on riders that may not fully cover the property. Some will provide coverage if you are home sharing, but not on a stand-alone property. The best thing to do is find an independent insurance agent (not affiliated with any insurance company). Scrutinize each policy carefully as there are lots of restrictions/exclusions that would make the policy not workable for you:

There are several I know offer STR insurance:

Proper Insurance (most expensive)

State Farm (offers rider)

Farmers (thru Foremost)

Steadily

Mercury

CBIZ

Safely
