Rules for hosting in the City of Mississauga

Hello, just wanted to check in and see if anyone can explain why the City of Mississauga is only allowing a primary residence to be listed on Airbnb and if anyone knows a way to navigate listing my property if it is not a principal residence. Thanks!

Use a free AI tool like ChatGPT it searches and gives a summary on rules in seconds.  Which allows you to read then explore in more detail your factors.

Thank you! @Marie8425

The best people to explain this to you is your local government that have put the STR regulations in place @Allan599

have a look at their regulations on their website to see if there are any exceptions.

@Helen3 @Allan599

That is the best solutiom ask the AI tool does is read the goverment web pages and summarizes.  Then you identify your questions specifically the AI tool can read the summarization and maybe suggest red flags you might unitentionally create.

Hi @Allan599

Have you tried to find out more yet following Marie or Helen's suggestions?

Perhaps some of our lovely hosts in Mississauga would be able to provide further insights too - @Leyla72 @Francia40 @Adel2212 @Zorana7 if you know anything about these rules, please do share with us as it would be very helpful for Allan!

Thank you everyone 🙂

Hi @Allan599,

I host Airbnb in my primary residence in Mississauga and follow the City’s licensing requirements. In my experience, speaking with City staff and asking questions early can be very helpful in understanding the requirements.

Thank you @Leyla72 for weighing in on this and helping Allan -did you have to speak to the city staff in the past? How easy or quick was it to get a response in your experience?

Yes @Emilie , I’ve had some communication with City staff regarding licensing and compliance questions.
One thing I found helpful is speaking with the appropriate departments directly (for example licensing, building, or fire prevention), since each department can provide guidance from their area.

Hi @Allan599

As it has been a couple of weeks, I thought it might be worth checking in with you!

Have you found an answer on the resources online as Marie suggested, or contacted the city staff as Leyla recommended?

Thanks 🙂

Emilie
