I have been looking at few properties in San Luis onispo or Palm Springs area. Both areas require airbnb properties a get a city/muni/county biz lic. and most cases they are not even handing out new licenses. How did you all got the lic.? Second question, does airbnb automatically collect TOT, occupation tax and pay to county/city/muni? If not what do you do.
Is it a good idea to look for a area which doesn't require care about biz lic.?
I am in La Quinta which has extended a moratorium on new licenses due to resident pressure to do so. This is happening in many cities but probably won't be permanent. Still it would be better to invest in property with a month minimum, avoiding need for STR registration. As to taxes, go to the Help Center and look up places Air BNB has agreement to collect taxes for answer to what taxes Air BNB is involved with.
