San Miguel de Allende

I am a dual  Mexican/American Citizen. I have only been doing Airbnb for a year. I have been paying Property taxes as well as collecting almost 30% in taxes including VAT taxes. However, I have heard that the City has decided this year to charge $45,000 pesos (around $20,000 USD) for each listing. So I am looking for information & wrote to a lawyer here. If it means shutting down short term rentals in order to comply with the law I will do that. I was born here and I love my country, but I don't have that kind of money. Help!

Hi @Catarina148

It really sounds like you're doing the homework here and thinking ahead! As your listings are in Mexico, I think you might find more Hosts with this specific taxation experience over on the Spanish Community Center.

I was thinking 45,000 pesos is more like $2,000+.

What sort of help are you looking for if you have a lawyer already providing you with professional advice? @Catarina148
