Special Offer discount not working properlly

Hi everybody!

I'm using the advanced host tools and seasonal rules and I think I encountered a problem when applying a special offer, for what I tested, the discount from the seasonal rule is applied twice.

Here's an example for September 3rd and 4th:
For the listing, I have set a rate of $80/night and a 10% off-peak discount: $80 x (100% - 10% of the rule) = $72, and this is how it appears on the calendar.

Then, I want to apply a "Special Offer" discount for these days for an additional 20% off: $72 x (100% - 20% of the special offer) = $57.60 (rounded up to $58)

When I'm creating the special offer, the old price and the new price are displayed correctly (see attached image).

1 - Seteo Oferta Especial.jpg

But after applying it it shows 52usd instead of 58usd
2 - Oferta Escpecial aplicada.jpg

When I go into the details of the applied promotions it shows the 20% special offer and the rule discounts
3 - Detalle noche.jpg4- Detalle promociones aplicadas.jpg

I think what Airbnb is doing is applying the low-season discount twice, since if I apply this discount twice, I get the same value per night as the calendar is showing:

80 USD x (100% - 10% of the discount) x (100% - 20% of the special offer) x (100% - 10% of the discount) = 51.84 (52 USD rounded up)

I've forwarded the problme to Airbnb's help center.

Has anyone else noticed this issue?

Enrique

Hi @Mia1090   & @Bhumika  , after many messages and calls with @Airbnb  support, I came to the conclusion that in fact they are applying Seasonal Rules two times.

This is what Airbnb is doing:
1- You establish night price + seasonal rule. Example 100usd/night + 10% discount Low Season for a total of 90usd/night

2- You set a custom promotion, for example 10%

3- Airbnb looks for historical price for that night and finds 90usd/night, then applies 10% additional discount: 81usd/night (so far so good and this is what you see before confirming the custom promotion).
4- Airbnb set 81usd/night in your calendar.
5- Airbnb again set seasonal Low Seasonal Rule: 72.9usd/night (Here is the problem).

My solution, set the custom promotion and the erase the seasonal rule for the nights of custom promotion, that way you will end with the desire night price.

Chganging the base price doesn't work because Airbnb in order to avoid miss use of the promotions by hosts (increaseing price and then set a discount) they look up for historical night price at wich they will applay your desiare discount.

I hope I made my self clear and being helpful to you.

Airbnb acknowledge the problem and close my ticket support. I think they are working in it (at least I hope so).

Regards, enrique

Hi @Enrique979 !

I’m also experiencing issues when applying a custom promotional discount. Even if I increase the base price beforehand, the final promo price still doesn’t match what I expect. I’ve ended up looking for dates where to apply the discount that gives a more accurate rate. Would love to know if anyone’s found a workaround for this.

Hi @Mia1090 , based on what host @Enrique979 mentions , this looks like a technical problem.

Have you had a chance to connect with Customer Support to see if they can help you with more information in this regards?

I’m also tagging host @Enrique979  to see if they’ve found a solution since this last post, as I read they were in touch with the support team regarding this issue.
