Support for a charity

Hi @Stephanie

Hope you're well.

I was wondering if you could help me. I manage a charity called Evie's Gift. We support parents with a critically ill child in hospital and partner with a number of hospitals across the country. One of the ways we support people is by paying for hotel accommodation for parents with limited financial reach when their child is being treated a long distance from home in a major hospital with specialist facilities. We often support parents of children with life-limiting or life-threatening illnesses such as cancer, complex heart conditions or acquired brain injuries.

Given the financial pressure many families are under, we now have more referrals than ever before. We want to be able to help every family who needs us, but as a charity we also have to safeguard our own financial position. With this in mind, I wanted to find out if there are Airbnb hosts I could access who would be open to allowing parents to stay in their accommodation at low cost (generally this would only be for 1-4 nights). We would particularly benefit from support in Bristol as we receive most of our accommodation requests in this area (although we also work with hospitals in other major hubs such as London, Liverpool and Birmingham).

Do you know if there are hosts who may be able to support us in this way? I have been through the customer services route but I didn't have much luck. I'd be really grateful for any info or advice you could give. Many thanks.

Best wishes

Hello @Chris17748

I'm based in Bristol and work for the NHS both hospitals in Bristol provide accommodation for parents who need to stay here because their children are staying in one of the hospitals (but this is limited).

Many hosts here have reduced bookings as demand has dropped so may struggle to offer low cost accomodation to your charity.

Can I suggest you look at home share hosts in Bristol who offer a room as this will be much cheaper for you than booking parents into a hotel.
