Hi everyone Is there any experienced Co- hosts who would not mind sharing a bit of knowledge.
Somebody please help! I cannot reach anyone at airbnb who will help me and they keep telling me I have a case open and closing requests.
There are MANY errors including the yearly earnings report does not match my 1099-K, certain listings do not have fees listed, amounts don't match, Addresses are incorrect and on and on.
Please somebody must have an email or way to contact people
Same thing here...
This year is no different. Our yearly gross earnings do not match the amount reported on the 1099-K, and we are once again having difficulty getting a response from Airbnb support. The representatives keep copying and pasting links to their guide, which states that the gross amount in the earnings report should correspond to Box 1a on the 1099-K. We have shown them that the numbers do not match, yet they continue to send the same generic response, directing us to the guide and advising us to consult a professional tax advisor—without addressing the actual discrepancy. I wonder if anyone who raised this issue last year was able to get it resolved?
This is our first year hosting, and our 1099K is incorrect as well. The amounts do not match the Airbnb earnings reports or the transactional guest history.
I'm an accountant and I was a tax preparer for years, so I know the Airbnb form is wrong. My discrepancy was rather minor, but I'd hate to see how bad things could be after a full year of hosting.
Someone at Airbnb really needs to address this issue. It appears to be a long-standing problem that they are failing to resolve.
And for those of you not in the US, the IRS is looking at our tax returns to verify that we're reporting all income. If Airbnb reports a higher number than was actually earned, and we fail to gross up to that number, we'll get a 'matching' notice and the IRS will assess additional taxes on the shortfall.
I have been trying to get ahold of a person at Airbnb who can fix my 1099k form for over a week. There's got to be some sort of legal action we can take at this point. I am livid.
Yeah this is crazy. the 1099k if i give allll the lead way i can is still 3K over what actually went to my bank. Why am i paying taxes on the full amount INCLUDING the remitted taxes they obtain and "pay out" to the state ?? Odd right? Yes you read that right Airbnb kept over $1200 for taxes and paid them "on my behave" yet the amount is still on my 1099K as being paid to me. beyond fishy. this is misrepresentation and fraud. I also have to pay taxes on airbnb service fees that i dont pay?? the renter pays that directly to airbnb so that should not go on the 1099K as income.
Hi @Angela4421,
I'm sorry to hear there was on discrepancy on your 1099K form. Have you has a chance to discuss this with the Support him to investigate further?
Let us know how you get on please. 🙂
Thanks,
Emilie
