Hi, how does tax work and how do I pay tax in Norway as a host?

Heisan, I'm a new host on AirBnB so I don't have any practical experience with the tax, but I think I understand the rules for short-term rentals. All income you receive via AirBnB is automatically reported to the authorities. The first SEK 15,000 is tax-free (from 2025), but after that you have to pay tax on all income. The tax rate is 22%, but you only pay on 85% of the income since you don't get a deduction for any costs.

Hi @Genet9 😊

Thank you for asking this question here, and welcome to the community!

Have you already started hosting?

I’m sharing this link with you 👉 Responsible hosting in Norway and tagging hosts from Norway,  they might have some helpful insights: @Per-Kuttainen-Ylimattila0@Ben5313@Scott1832@Christian733@Arnulf24@Karan95 and @Kjetil3.

Thank you in advance!

Hei Arnulf.

It seems like you understand the rules for taxation, so I don't need to write anything more about it.
