The UNFAIR policy around Monthly-Bookings and Apartments with 31-day min stay duration

Hi guys! I’d like to start a petition against the policy of Airbnb around ‘long term stays’ in combination with their monthly-booking option.

I am a new host and listing my apartment on Airbnb for a few months now. My apartment is located in Barcelona and I am NOT allowed to rent it out for less than 31 days by law. Fine, I have no problems with that…. BUT, here comes the twist:

When a guest uses the monthly-booking option (instead of choosing exact dates), Airbnb is ONLY showing apartments with a 30-day reservation availability. ALL the apartments (like mine) with a minimum of 31-day duration, are NOT SHOWING UP in the results.

This is VERY UNFAIR, and Airbnb should show 30- AND 31-day apartments when guests are using the Monthly-option. Because 31 days is also a month.

We are already limited by law in Barcelona, and now Airbnb is taking even more potential guests away from us.

Please help me raise attention for this matter. Thanks a lot!

@Oliver819 That does seem a bit unfair. Given that Airbnb define a long term stay as 28+ days with different cancellation policies as well I would have thought they could easily define a month as 28/30/31 days. I wonder where they got 30 days from?

Anyway - A petition won't work but I am sure if enough people comment on your post one of the nice moderators will pass the suggestion on to Airbnb.

Thanks! Yes, it’s just unfair. I already submitted a feedback form, but we all know that those things are not really helping 😅

let’s hope a moderator picks up this thread and passes it on. 31-day minimum apartments should be shown in monthly-search inquiries. Period.

Yes...thats a problem. We are also seeing more and more restrictions like 60days or 90days? I would guess they would have the same problem?
