Tips For Starting an Airbnb Business

Tips For Starting an Airbnb Business

Hi everyone!

My name is Fatima, and I’m excited to be part of this community! I’ve been really interested in starting my own Airbnb business, but I’m currently working with no savings, so I’m here to learn as much as I can.

If you're open to sharing, I’d love to hear:

  • How you got started as a host

  • What strategies or tips helped you in the beginning

  • Any advice for launching with little to no upfront investment

Thank you in advance! 😊

Hi @Fatima680, and welcome to the Airbnb community!

I’m so glad you’re here and asking such thoughtful questions. I'm @Elegant-Homes-Retreat0—thank you so much @Alex for the warm welcome and for tagging me! I truly appreciate the support you give to new and growing hosts in this space.

While I’m still growing in my hosting journey, I’ve picked up a lot through hands-on experience, learning from others, and being part of this amazing community. Like you, I started with very little—no big budget, just a strong desire to create a welcoming space and learn as I go.

Here are a few things that helped me when I was just starting out:

Use what you already have. You don’t need to own a property or have a large investment to begin. Starting with a spare room or co-hosting can be a great first step.

Focus on guest experience. Cleanliness, kindness, clear communication, and small thoughtful touches can make a big impact and earn you great reviews.

Learn constantly. I’ve leaned heavily on Airbnb’s Help Center, YouTube videos, and posts from experienced hosts in this community. Every bit of knowledge adds up.

Grow gradually. I reinvested my early earnings into small upgrades—better linens, improved décor, and useful amenities. Over time, it really added up.

Also, a big shoutout to the experienced hosts @Anika191, @Bradley181, @Bryon48, @Carrie643, and @Kate-And-Mitch0—your advice and experience are always so helpful and appreciated.

Fatima, you’re already on the right path by showing up and asking questions. Keep going, keep learning, and don’t be afraid to start small. You've got a whole community here cheering you on!

Fatima680,

We had no experience hosting until about 6 months ago, and here are a few things we have learned:

  1. Keep it very, very clean. Our guests constantly comment on how clean our house is. Many people are used to staying in other places that are not as well-kept. If your place is super clean, it makes your house stand out. Yes, it takes a long time to clean the place this way, but we think it's better to spend more time to get it perfect than less time to get it "just ok."
  2. We agree with Elegant-Homes-Retreat0, that it is vital to learn as much as you can. We have learned so much from YouTube videos, AirBnb Help's Center, and friends who are hosts.
  3. Provide as many amenities and extras as you can. These little things go a long way. Snacks, occasional gifts, coupons, lots of kitchen and bath items, etc., are usually appreciated by your guests. Try to think, what will make you stand out from other places? Don't just do the bare minimum.

Hope that helps!
