I would like to send a host referral to a friend of mine, who is looking to begin hosting on Airbnb.
The problem is, my friend was sent a referral several years ago by someone else (but did not accept the referral). They want to accept my new referral, but cannot because they already have a referral from someone else (even though they never wanted it, nor accepted it).
To make matters worse, the person who sent the initial referral has since passed away. This detail means nothing to Airbnb, who say there is nothing they can do. My friend needs to accept the initial referral, FROM A DEAD GUY, and they can't remove if from the system.
Anyone encountered anything similar? Any advice?
Hi Nathan,
I'm afraid that Airbnb can change the original referral from the dead person. If your friend doesn't have a reservation on their account yet and you wish to get he referral bonus. The best course of action is to send the referral link to your friend's other email address and let him/her sign up using that email address (new email that is not registered to Airbnb yet).
I believe this is the other course of action should you contact Airbnb customer support.
I hope this helps.
All the best,
Upfish Management
