Hi NYC Hosts,
Curious what was everyones wait time to get a registration number with NYC? I submitted my application since June 24, 2023 and have not heard back from the city on my application status. Any one with issues? and if, not what was the turnaround time?
Thanks
I applied June 1, 2023 and have not heard back. I emailed them for an update on my application.
Hi Cil3, thanks for responding. We sent an email as well. Do you plan on hosting pass sept 5 without registration?
I also applied in June and still waiting- I have emailed nyc-Ose and have not received any response.
My calendar has a 30 day reservation opening but no one visits NYC for a long period of time. Hope to hear something very soon!
I do see other host have their registration number listed on their app- wondering how long was the process for them ?
good luck to you - I hope you hear from them very soon
Hi @Amy2786
I would check with your New York City government about turn around times for approving applications. I presume you are a new host as there is no listing attached to your profile.
No-one here is going to advocate you operating without registration and risking fines/prosecution.
Same here. Though I have existing listing, I am still waiting to hear back from the city after 3 weeks since I applied for registration. It's unfair to us hosts, as we already paid the $145 fee and still see our calendar blocked while waiting.
Great question! The problem is no one has an answer! Typical NYC transaction. Implement a procedure that you have no way of carrying out. Let's all remember the way the City of New York took the food out of our mouths and the money from our bills when it comes time to VOTE.
No one's talking about "short-term" renting without the proper paperwork (hence we all applied). We are simply asking to be kept informed as to the timeline we are working with.
In NYC there's still lots of ways to make money with rentals (e.g. Long-term) but when your a senior citizen you may "prefer" short terms with visitors instead of the issues that permanent tenants and long-term stays bring.
Hello
I submitted my application for registration in June as well and have not heard.
I have noticed some host have their registration listed on their site.
I still do not have a registration number and now Airbnb is automatically cancelling my bookings past december!
Hi @Amy2786,
I'm curious if you've gotten your registration number yet ? I applied the first week of August (2023) and now its October 9th (2023) and I stili have no news (meanwhile my calendar/listing is blocked). Wondering if anyone has a sense of how long the turn around time is!
Hi @Omri25 - I saw your reply here after I asked the same question. Looks like we submitted about the same time. I am still waiting as well. Have you heard anything? Googling the average time - I saw 50 days, but I'm almost at 60 now. Anxiously awaiting and trying not to panic.
Hi @Amy2786 - Have you received a response yet? I applied on Aug 11 and still haven't heard anything. Looking up the average response time I saw 50 days. It's been almost 60 now. I am curious how long it took for you and if it's still going on or if you got your answer? As I am sure you know, it's so frustrating and expensive waiting. I hope you got good news! Any info you could share would be helpful. I have gotten generic responses that aren't really responses from OSE. Thank you in advance.
hello @Jazzmine1 ...Just curious to hear if you've gotten any feedback since this post. I applied shortly before you and the only update I have is from submitted to now processing. its been over 100 days for me so that 50 days is definitely a no. looking forward to hearing something.
