I'm wondering if any of you have figures to share for the financial cost to you of hosting?
It's a slow morning, so I thought I'd work out how much it costs me to do the laundry each change-over - £2.22! That's 4 loads at home, covering electric, soap, water, ironing and depreciation of the machine. Drying I do outside on the line. Doesn't sound much, but 40-50 times each year and it adds up.
Broadband is £336/ year. Insurance £152.
Have you done any calculations? Replacing linens? Heating/ electric? I know all properties are different, but it may be interesting to share - please do!
Hah @Lilian20 should we mention a few?
Tax habitation
Tax foncière
Tax audiovisuelle
Tax professionelle
+ a small tourist tax to the town hall
That alone amounts to €2000 for a not so large holiday home. The bill from the coproprieté/syndic about the same. Income tax to Norway 25% + caretaker another €2000.
I am on the third washing machine, second dishwasher, second hoover, second drier, third fridge and second bbq in 12 years.
A very optimistic estimate will leave me 50% net, usually less.
On the plus side - we have a free holiday home for 6 months of the year.
Are there any Australians who have calculated costs?
What are your costs @Jennifer2297 ?
I think what's important when looking at costs is not to just look at start-up and ongoing costs but also a hosts time.
Really surprising that hosts respond here haven't estimated their own time as a cost, when it will be one of the highest ongoing costs to take into account (not taking into account mortgage costs and utilities).
Thanks yes it does take up a lot of time changing beds washing and cleaning ..I’m interested in how people calculate costs in Australia for these things as our tax laws are different ..
