When does extra guest charge kick in?

Hi all!

I have my room set for a max of two people.  The Additional charges section sets the charge for guests more than X.  I have X set to 1.  Does the extra guest charge kick in above the max of two (a 3rd??) or, above one, so a couple staying would be subject to the extra charge?

Thanks!

@Rick4214 a couple would pay the extra charge based on your current settings

@Rick4214 I have setting priced for 2 people/ cottage sleeps 4. If they add extra number of people staying. Our price $25 per person per night is automatically added by Airbnb. Children under 2yrs classed as infants are not charged.

@Rick4214 You can always view your listing to make sure your settings are correctly applied:

@Rick4214 P.S. When you have your max set to 2 guests, it is impossible for the guest to book more than 2. So there is no automatic "extra charge" for a 3rd or 4th guest.

@Rick4214  I have mine set up that way too, and as @Mike-And-Jane0  said, the carve would apply to couples. Heads up—I’ve had a ridiculous number of guests book for one and then a couple shows up, which creates an awkward/uncomfortable  situation, to say the least. I’ve thought I had a woman staying, and in the morning I run into a man walk into the kitchen! I suggest you verify with guests before accepting the reservation, while it’s still east to adjust the reservation. Of course, you might not get an answer. I’m finding a lot of people who book without reading the listing and a number who don’t respond to texts.

Airbnb recenlly changed the help file and replaced "addional guasts" by "extra guests".

It now mentions the fee is for guest above your maximum amount of guest set in the listing.

To me it seems this is not correct and very confusing.

thoughts ??

@Emiel1 Interesting. Thanks for the info. I still don't understand how the system would automatically charge the guest accordingly based on the guest count that they cannot physically enter. Unless this just gives hosts the option to manually add an additional charge after the fact?

I just checked a couple of my listings.  The site still asks me for the number of guests before an extra fee is charged.

Have I missed something?
