Why would Airbnb message me asking for 'Additional account information' ?

Hello all,

 

I hope someone may have first hand experience of this and can advise accordingly. 

 

We have received a message from Airbnb, asking for 'Additional account information'.

 

We have been hosts for approximately 8 years and have not been asked to update any information before, which, incidentally, has not changed from our first day hosting.

 

The disconcerting part of the message states that, ' Funds may be with-held' if the information is not provided.

 

The message looks genuine but with the near constant stories of 'Rip-off' scams, I'm loath to open it or provide any confidential information.

 

Google search of my question only produced a short series of replies to a very similar question posted in 2019 so a bit out of date and pretty inconclusive anyway. 

 

I think my next step will be to contact Airbnb direct to enquire.

 

Has anyone else had this or similar messages from Airbnb?
