HI All, and thanks in advance for input!!
i have a house on a small lake in upstate NY.
we have kayaks and a canoe available for use by guests.
i was wondering what people do to protect themselves from liability if by chance there was an issue.
are there forms in the airbnb website?
thanks again!

@Jerry666 Talk to your property insurance company about the validity of waivers. Airbnb does not support posting and signing waivers, so you will have to write in your description that waivers will be provided via email and must be signed prior to guest arrival.
AIRCOVER will not protect you from liability.

@Gabrielle528 I don't have a waiver for boating equipment. Just for use of the hot tub.
Get a Waiver! Have them sign it, keep it for 7 years. We have a business that requires a waiver, go to an attorney have him write you one or find one online that is legit. Put a life ring near the water, call your insurance company and tell them you are letting guests go on the lake and use the boats etc., you need to cover yourself in case someone is not watching their kids and god forbid they drown...
We have a similar setup at a lake property and ran into the same question. Airbnb doesn’t really have a built-in waiver system for things like kayaks, canoes, boats, etc.
My problem with paper waivers was I didn't have a way to verify a guest signed it without meeting them. I ended up using a digital waiver tool called Simple Waivers so guests can just sign from their phone. One thing that’s worked well is putting a small QR code in the house near the kayaks so guests can scan it and complete the waiver before using the equipment and I can easily verify they signed it.
Even if you go the paper route, I’d definitely recommend having something in place and checking what your insurance expects for water equipment.
Curious how other lake hosts handle this.
