no short term rental in NYC????

There is a recent new law prohibiting short rentals here in NYC. It's very upsetting.

Earlier this fall, I was informed that I am being forced to share information with the city unless I agree to 30 day rentals or longer.  The problem is there is also a law that in 30 days a renter can claim residency in a dwelling and even if they STOP PAYING, they have a right to squat. This is bad news for hosts.

Another platform,  VRBO, just restricted my listing. A representative told me that all short term rentals are prohibited and that in order to use VRBO, you MUST ONLY rent for 30 days or longer.

I've decided to say goodbye to that platform.

I've remained on Airbnb because although I have been forced to share information with the city, at least I can maintain my short term rentals.

My question is:

Will Airbnb also prohibit short term rentals all together?

I know that I can become a licensed Bed & Breakfast within city law, though I do not know how long that will take or cost (everything in NYC has an expensive price tag attached).

All info is appreciated! Thanks in advance!

I would love more info on this as well. It seems though that properties listing only private rooms with 2 or fewer guests or occupants have the main host stay in for more than 180 days is exempt

@Julie-Ann24 , I am new to air bnb hosting.  Would you be willing to share with me exactly what "info" has to get shared with the city if I do a short stay listing.  Thank you in advance.

@Julie-Ann24 NVM  I found.  Thank you.
