siret number/ registering as a buisness

Hi, can anyone help please, I rent out a small apartment in the basement of my house in France, it is my main residence and I am retired on a small pension. I have filled out the form with the Marie and have had a 3 * Classification with the tourist Board, I have informed the lady who deals with out Taxes, my question is do I need a Siret number ? I have been searching the internet and there is so much information I am so confused. some say that as long as I don't earn over €5,000 per year I don't have to register, other sights say that I need to register as a business ? whatever my earnings are, if I do need to register , how do I do this ? I am in the Lot et Garonne area 47, thank you

@Lynda396 Yes I'm afraid you do but you can register as a non professional.

Here is an Airbnb link that explains in English how they have a duty to declare earnings to the French authorities:

Hello @Lynda396

I don't know how good your French is but there is all the information you need on the French CC but I can confirm that you do need to register to get your SIRET number.  From memory, the limit is around 750€ and definitely not 5000€

Here is a link with all the information you need.  It is in French but if you look on the right hand side, halfway down you can get Google to translate the content;

Good luck

Thank you, but I think my main query is, Do I actually need to have a siret number ? I don't want to register as a business as this will complicate things and I will not be able to use my S1 ,
