A case of OCD or Drugs?

My smart lock notified me every half hour/hour  of someone unlocking and locking our house from 10:30 last night until 5:30 am this morning. What the heck is going on. Does this happen to anyone else? What in the world are people doing unlocking and locking my house all night long without sleep and they weren’t smoking because there is no smoking on the property anywhere or within 30 feel from our building and I live upstairs and always smell smoke when someone smokes.

@Morgan166  Dealing drugs? Running a prostitution business? Having a party? Those are the most likely scenarios I can think of. I would be finding out what's going on there if I were you. If you are an off-site host, you need outside security cameras so you can see who is entering and leaving.

@Morgan166     Could it be that they didn't secure the door and it was banging open and shut in the wind!

Nope

@Morgan166  It seems like since you were at home and close enough to the unit to be able to tell whether someone was smoking outside, you would've also noticed if unregistered guests were arriving at the property or something like a party was happening. It sounds like if it weren't for your app, you wouldn't have noticed anything at all - so it definitely wasn't disruptive. (Apps can also be glitchy, so the notifications might not have even been accurate).

If there's been no disruptive noise, no evidence of rule violations, and no sign of unexpected visitors (which your listing doesn't appear to have a rule about), I wouldn't look at this as a problem. Being up until 5:30 AM is quite normal for me, both due to having a somewhat nocturnal rhythm and working for a client many time zones away. I don't have OCD and I don't smoke, but if I were staying at a home like yours I would find it nice to quietly go out to the patio and enjoy the view from time to time . It is one of your biggest selling features after all, so naturally you'll attract guests who want to make the most of it!

I don't recommend bringing the notifications up to your guest or suggest anything that would seem like you were spying on them. But there's nothing wrong with sending them a message to ask how everything's going with their stay, if their room is comfortable etc, to make sure there's not a problem that's keeping them awake.

I saw them both smoking outside near their car today on my ring camera. I have rules they are not supposed to smoke within 30 feet of my home or neighbors homes since it’s a law in Oakland California. My best guess is they partied together all night (I even heard them fighting at one point at like 2am) and are sneaking on the far end of my property to smoke and are aware where the cameras are so they seem to be dodging the cameras. Oh well. They leave tomorrow so whatever. They also where the type people trying to get out of the walkthrough.
