Adjustment of booking dates after check in

Hi. I had guests check in and confirm on the first night that everything was good (11pm)

The next morning they messaged to say they were leaving as there had been a noisy party in the area, as well as been bitten by mosquito's in the night.  My cancellation policy is moderate.  They didn't cancel on airbnb, but I see that they adjusted their dates to my minimum 2 night stay, whereas their booking was for 5 nights.  I'm a new host, so don't know much about how to do things.  I accepted their amended dates so they paid 2 nights.  They would surely have been liable for the balance or 50% thereof for the remainder of the booking right?  Also I see they have a pending review but I don't want to review them (negatively), so now I can't see their review.    Anyone know how to actually email Airbnb?  There seems to be no way to contact them at all.....

You agreed to the change in the booking.

Ypu can not see their review until you post yours, ot the 14 day period for reviewing passes.

@Claire262  Unfortunately a change in booking is not treated the same way as a cancellation.  If you accept the change, you are not paid out for the remaining nights.  One option is to decline their change request and to send them the 50% via the Resolution Center (if you want to).

Review them accurately - "Our interaction with Mr. & Mrs. Guest was brief, as they requested to amend there reservation after the first night.  They left the place clean and tidy upon their departure." (Or whatever may be the case)  Their review will show up on your profile publicly after 14 days even if you do not write a review.

Hello @Claire262

Sorry this happened to you as a new host.

They were only able to do this because you accepted their ammended booking. I wouldn't have.

You can't control neighbours having noisy parties. Rather than ammending their booking they should have contacted you and you could perhaps offered flowers or a bottle of wine.

Nor can you control mosiquitos although if you are in an area where they are prolific in your guest book you should  mention this and perhaps provide mosquito repellant plug ins.

If you are not familiar with how Airbnb works, I would snooze (put your listing on hold) while you learn more about how Airbnb works. The help section on their website, the community guides here and the new host tips will help you.
