AirBNB Service Fee

Why cannot Airbnb be completely transparent (to hosts) about how the service is fee is calculated?

ie

Value/length of booking - what is the scale

Cancelleation policy chosen

Affected by Instant Booking

Number of properties listed

It should be clearly documented how the service fee is calulated on your proprty. 

Currently mine appears to have 15% added on to the listed rate.
