AirBnB tax specialists in California

Does anyone have a good recommendation for an accountant to help us with AirBnB taxes, expenses, etc? We are in San Diego but anyone in California would work.

Hi @Louise1073

I hope you're well! I wanted to see if you'd found a good tax specialist in the end? If not, it might be worth checking if there is a local Host club near you for more trust-worthy companies and specialists recommendations.

@Helen56 @Donna163 As fellow San Diego Hosts, do you have any tips here? Or perhaps you might have some @Kitty-and-Creek0 ,@Mikki0@Basha0 or @Mark4222, as Californian neighbours?

Thanks,

Emilie

@Louise1073 @Emilie Yes, I live in San Diego too.  Airbnb collects the transient tax from the guest and passes it on to the relevant city department, so you do not need to collect from the guest yourself.

For paying your income tax Airbnb provides a statement for this purpose on your earnings page so you can see how much income you had.

For expenses you can do a simple profit and loss calculation and submit it with your tax paperwork.  I've only needed to do this when buying bedding, towels, etc. when I started, or when replacing these items.  I don't bother for small items such as shampoo, flowers, and such.
