My airbnb account was compromised at 4am (Perth, Australia) time on the 03/05/2019. When I checked my email in the morning, I had 3 emails from airbnb and 1 email from paypal with the $426.80 recipt to airbnb. The 3 emails from airbnb were: 1) booking confirmed, 2) booking cancelled (no refund issued), 3) reciept from airbnb all within 9 minutes. I jumped onto my airbnb account and it says that someone was logging in off a Windows Chrome accoutn in Phoenix, America!!
Changed my passwords immediately.
I called airbnb immediately and they have forwarded the case but I am still waiting for a call back. They told me to call Paypal who have rejected my case because I was in a payment agreement with airbnb via my paypal account. The payment is pending on my paypal account which is linked to a debit account. I have called my bank and they have tried to block paypal from being able to take the funds from my account but can't guarentee that it will work. I have withdrawn all my funds from my bank account.
After receiving the rejection email from Paypal, I called Airbnb again who said that my case has been forwarded to the appropriate team but do not know when it will be dealt with. I am so frustrated about this. What are my possible actions? I can't afford the charge at the moment 😞 What has anyone else done? Thank you
