Airbnb discount for Airbnb host?

I am an Airbnb host in Cape Town. I want to reserve a place in New York via Airbnb for about two weeks in November this year. Do I ask for a discount? Of do I, as host, automatically qualify, or am I being presumptious?

Are you talking about the Vouchers AirBnb send out every now and then? You can use them with booking, I have been sent them but but never actrually used one.

If it is a voucher you are using, @Rachelle22, just make sure to type in the code early in the booking procedure. There is a box for it. 

If you are thinking other hosts should give you discounts because you are a host, may I ask if that is something you do? If I were to ask to book with you, would you give me a discount? I find fellow hosts to be very nice, always a pleasure, but that they require just as much work as anyone else. 

With the "automatically qualify" part of your question, though, I am wondering whether you are not thinking of having fellow hosts subsidize your travel at all, but that Airbnb gives us discounts out of its coffers for travelling. Not generally. You will get a voucher for being a superhost for four quarters, or for referring others, things like that. Not just for being a host. 

That would be cool, though. 🙂

Hi Lawrene, I received a wrongly worded message from a fellow Airbnb host - therefore my confusion. All cleared up. And, I didn't for one moment think anyone should host me free of charge or at a massive discount. I have been paying my way all over the world for nearly forty yearss. It was a simple scouting question regarding finances - and we all budget, don't we.
