Airbnb fails to process transaction. Host & Guest agree to alter/extend another week.

Do other hosts have issue with the absurd wait times on hold? And especially with the incomptence and rude attitude of airbnb reps?

My very nice Guest wants to "alter" a reservation (terminology makes me think of tailored clothing) and stay on another week. As the Host, I am in agreement. Sounds simple? Ought to be?

She initiated the request wdnesday morning and then unfortunately at 11:15am, I missed the call from airbnb in which I was supposed to ACCEPT her renewal.

Checkout was noon wednesday. It's now thursday. I have made a dozen calls to airbnb, and my guest has made a few as well, yet neither of us have any confirmation that airbnb has completed the financial transaction.

For me as a host it's setting a dangerous precedent for a guest to squat unpaid in my home!

As I don't know how this posting community works if youve any suggestions pls email mathematics4fun at gmail. Thnaks for any suggestions.

Just have her make a new booking and extend it for one day to add the extra day.  This way you will get paid and take a breather to clean ...etc.... Needless to say , she will only stay the days she paid for.  Send this suggestions through the site that way the evidence will be there regarding the agreement.

We are currently in the same situation. The guests are still here. We recieved a notification from airbnb that we should approach them directly for payment as they have been unsuccessful in collecting the amount due. This is not acceptable and puts us in a very awkward position.

this just happened to me and i was beside myself when i got the email from AirBnB.  (see below)

Hi ,
The attempt to charge your guest, for the amount due for reservation 5TP48C from Sep 4 - 5, 2016 was unsuccessful. The reservation is still active at this time, and we've sent your guest an email alert with a direct way to pay the balance.
If your guest successfully submits payment, we'll send you a confirmation email right away. If you have questions about the payment problem, you can reach out to your guest.
If your guest doesn't successfully submit payment or if they cancel the reservation before making the payment, Airbnb isn't liable for issuing your host payout. If you prefer to cancel the reservation, you can cancel without penalty at any time before the trip begins. If the reservation has started and you'd like to cancel, please send us a note.
We appreciate your understanding.
Regards,
The Airbnb Team

did you see the part where "IF THEY CANCEL THE RESERVATION BEFORE MAKING THE PAYMENT, AIRBNB ISN'T LIABLE FOR ISSUING YOUR HOST PAYOUT?
The guest is already in the house!   What do you mean AirBnB isn't liable for paying?   If you have STRICT cancellation policy listed and the Guest  is already here, who is going to pay ?   Very very very unsettling and Yes it put's us in a very awkward and uncomfortable situation!
