Am i allowed to ask a downpayment to my guest ?

Hello ,

 I would like to know : am I allowed to ask a downpayment to my guest ? in a real example I have a reservation  between 11 July and 12 Aug and I want to know how to proceed better in this case , to occupy my calendar on other websites as well ( booking etc. )  or not ?  do I have any guarantee , how shall I proceed in this case ?  in this period I will have to refuse other guests , I want to know if I am coverd in any way.

Covered or not depends on your cancellation policy.  Airbnb handles payments and downpayments are not an option.  If you list on several sites, perhaps ask this potential guest to book through a different site that accepts downpayment.
