Anyone receive the error message "Validation failed: This reservation is not fully paid"?

Anyhone experience this problem?  A guest booked (5) nights for two people but wants to add (2) people to (2) nights.  I charge extra for people over (2).   I attempted to request money from the guest but receive error message:  "Validation failed: This reservation is not fully paid".  I contacted Airbnb Superhost customer service number and left a message with representative and was told I would receive an email the next day from an account specialist but received nothing.   Two days later and still nothing.   I was able to increase the entire reservation  to (3) people for (5) days and sent the money request and guest accepted.  I now need to refund them for (1) person for (1) day but am unable to send guest $ refund since that option is not available.   Let me know if you were able to resolve such an issue.  Thanks, Annie

@Rich-Annie0 The first thing I wonder about is this:   "Validation failed: This reservation is not fully paid".

Guests are starting to use the 'Group Payment' feature. They have 72 hours for all guests to pay their share of the booking costs. I am wondering if this guest booked using the Group Payment feature (?) given that the reservation was not 'fully paid'. That would account for what you experienced, if so.

@Rich-Annie0 guests are now able to split their payment into two parts, and you can't use the resolution center until the second half is paid. Really dumb. The only way I've found to "resolve" it is to just wait for the second payment.

And I don't get notice when remainder balance is paid by guest.  And the onus is on me to remember to bill 'later' for agreed extra fees.  This is a new issue and it is a problem.  airbnb doesn't allow extra fees entered as line items at time of booking; hottub, pet, etc

This  makes things so much harder. I now have to keep track of every guest who requested extra services, whether or not I was able to submit a request for them, and whether or not they paid. In addition, the notifications related to the completion of any of these three steps is lacking at best, which adds up to more manual work. I definitely hope Airbnb addresses this issue.

I also had this error message.  A customer wants to bring two dogs - we charge extra for dogs/pets but I am getting this error - so cannot request payment. 

 

I have not heard about customers splitting their payments (this is news to me).  I think that as hosts we should be able to charge for these extra services at the point of booking - albeit that Airbnb schedule the request to the customer as and when full payment has been made.  I now have to forward plan on my diary and "guess" when the full payment could made. 

 

Can Airbnb look into a solution for this - it is not ideal at all.  

I totally agree... Hosts should be able to send through a special resolution payment request or refund at anytime after the booking has been confirmed.  In my area, I have to collect City Taxes through an "Extra Services" payment request... I would prefer to collect these taxes right at the time of booking vs. having to follow-up a week or two before the check-in date!  AirBnB PLEASE FIX THIS ISSUE with the website!
