Are Host Required To Provide Bath Soap, Shampoo and Conditioner

I have an Airbnb in Ucluelet, British Columbia.  As an extra touch I have provided small soaps and shampoos.  I am uncomfortable with the many plastic bottles of shampoo that are tossed at the end of a guest’s stay.  Even if a small amount of shampoo is used, I toss it and replace with a new one.  All these amounts of plastic in a landfill bothers my Eco Conscious

Are guests needing this shampoo amenity?  Do other hosts provide shampoo or not?

Thanks Roberta

@Roberta475  Shampoo and conditioner are not requirements. Just make sure they are left unchecked under the amenities section of your listing.

Many of us are quite opposed to single-use plastic and try to make our listings as eco-friendly as possible. I and many other hosts use refillable pump dispensers for liquid soap for sinks and showers. Buy soap in large bulk containers and simply top up the containers between guests. Even bar soaps are wasteful, as  you can't reuse for the next guest and so much ends up getting thrown away.

Over time, many of my guests have left toiletry items behind, not wanting to pack them to take home. Half bottles of shampoo, sunscreen, whatever. I have a basket in the bathroom where I put these leftovers, after wiping them down with anti-bacterial wipes and point it out to guests, telling them they're free to use whatever is in there, left behind by others. But it's not mentioned in any way in my listing.
