Are there any policies limiting how long someone can rent my house throyugh airbnb
For instance, I have someone who wants to rent my place for up to 9 months but doesn't want to sign a lease. Does Airbnb have any restrictions against this? I understand there are challenges and risks on my end with respect to holding this time for the tenant, that is basically taking it off the market so he can renew his lease every few weeks, but beyond that, are there other concerns?
@Louis289 In certain states, after 30 days, the guest will have tenant status. If he does not leave without paying you, you have to go through eviction process. In California, it can take six or more months to evict a tenant.
And you don’t even have a real deposit through Airbnb from the guest.
@Louis289 Bad idea all around. Airbnb isn't really set up for this type of rental. If you want to rent the place out for long term like that, you should advertise it elsewhere, have a legal lease agreement, get references from employers and previous landlords and take a real security deposit. All that smart stuff that actual landlords do. Does it not seem suspect to you that this person doesn't want to sign a lease agreement?
Thank you for your responses! I am now sufficently infomed and wary enough to change my approach to this situation in order to avoid the problems you mention.
