At wit's end: Can't book guests or book stays for self, despite 6 calls to airbnb over 4 days :-(

I have pretty high guest ratings, and was a superhost. Three weeks ago, a propective guest tried to book my apartment, but kept getting notice "It is not possible to rent this property. Please contact customer service." Once I found a phone # for airbnb, and spoke to them ~3 times, and he spoke to them -- he still got the same message.  He gave up.

I thought it was a fluke.  I am not traveling and have tried to book a place since Sunday night; it's now Thursday.  Despite three offers by the host, and six calls by me (more from him) to airbnb, I still can't book it, or any place else.  I have been told that it's a tech issue that a special department needs to handle, and they will get back to me "soon."  And then, that it takes 24-48 hours to resolve.  It's long past that.  Yesterday early afternoon, the rep had me on the phone for a while, as he was actually trying to talk to some other people.  He then said instead of me staying on hold that he would call me back within an hour, and that he and his supervisor would talk to the host (who was getting fed up) and they would find me a place for last night.  I never heard back from him.

I called late afternoon and asked to talk with him.  Another rep passed along the message and this rep said he would call me back within an hour to make sure the other rep got back to me.  He didn't.

The host (who I believe has given up on me by now) and I have both asked to speak with supervisors.  They don't let us.

I was looking for a month-long stay through airbnb, but instead, I am still imposing on my friends.

I have no idea why airbnb is treating me this way.

I was a superhost (not that many bookings at this point, since I seek longer term ones), and got mostly high ratings. But I feel like I'm being blacklisted or something is amiss, and they won't tell me what is gong on.  😞  It is so very frustrating.

Any ideas, suggestions?

Thank you.

@Veronica275, I don't know much about the issue other than this: there have been a lot of people here in the "Help" discussion room mentioning the "It is not possible to rent this property. Please contact customer service" message.

I am not sure what is causing it, but know you are not the only one experiencing the issue.

Thank you, Matthew.  That does make me feel somewhat better.  That it's not a conspiracy against me.  😉  --But it it so bizarre, the way they are responing, or not, and how they are handling it. !  It's been four full days and nights, so far.  And then my guest incident was three weeks ago. Wow.

By the way, cute family you have there!  🙂

Thanks again,

Veronica

This is going to sound too simple an answer, @Veronica275, but I was in an Airbnb tech-problem loop on Monday, and the solution was to clear my cache and cookies. It's worth a try if you haven't already done it.

Lawrene, thank you for the tip.  I just cleared both.

Now that my offers have expired, again, there's nothing for me to experiment with.  I don't want to book something just to cancel it.

I have a feeling that won't be the fix for this particular issue, and Matthew said there are a number of people experiencing it.  But we shall see...

Thank you!

Veronica
