Ok, so I know some will say the review process is "double blinded". In reality though, most guests who are difficult or bad know that if their host leaves them a review that it will be a bad one and will respond with a negative review of the host. This has happened to many of us.
This guest was absolutely miserable, rude and not appreciative of how much above and beyond we went for him. He is knew to airbnb and seems to think he can speak to hosts in the same manner he speaks to the front desk receptionist at a crappy 2star motel.
So anyways, I want to wait until the very last minute of the last hour to leave him a review so he does not have time to write one back.
I have seen some suggest 3 possible times that are the cutoff times to leave a review but I know that only 1 is correct. Those times are....
1) exactly 14 days after receiving the email notification to leave a review. E.g you receive an email on August 1st at 3:30pm so the last minute to leave a review is August 14 at 3:29pm. I don't think this one is true because I tried it once and it didn't work
2) At midnight of the 14th day so 11:59 pm of August 14.
3) exactly 14 days from the check-out time. E.g, they checked out on August 1st at 3:00pm which is our standard check-out time so the last minute to leave a review is 2:59pm on August 14th
Does anyone actually know which one is correct? I appreciate your help.
The review period ends exactly 14 days from the minute you got the notification email to review the guest. (in my experience at least)
@Harold75 It is now possible to see exactly how long you have got to leave a review. After the guest has left and you get the message that you can leave a review you will be able to see days left on the message feed with that guest in the inbox. When less than 24 hours is back it will show hours instead of days.
@Harold75 To see exactly how long you got left- go to the inbox - then into the message feed - then press write review and you will get to the starter review page that shows days/hours left.
@Sandra0 THANK YOU! Just like you pointed out, it works! Very helpful! Thank you so much!
Hi, I need to leave a last minute review and at 2:30pm UK time it went from 2 days to 1 day. Does that mean it's now 1 day 23 Hours? Will it change to Hours tomorrow at 2:30pm? as it changed to 1 day from days today at 2:30pm? Somebody please help.
I wouldn't risk not being able to leave a review. Go for the safest/earliest time @Sean433
Regardless of what you do the guests can still leave you a negative review.
@Helen0 I was led to believe that after the 14 days the guest is prevented from depositing the host a review (negative or positive!).
@Helen3 It works really well to leave the review last minute. Airbnb changed the system so now you can see the exact time left. There is no longer a need to guess as it was before. I have guests who left a mess last week - it looks like a bowl of juicy red berries was dropped on my wooden floor - the picked up the berries but left all the juice to set. I had to sand the floor to get rid of the stains. They also didn't follow my houserules. And I even bought a small wedding present and a nice bottle of wine for them. They haven't left a review yet and there is a big chance that they might believe I would leave them a bad review. It would be far to riski to leave a review long before the deadline. There really is no reason for me to do so.
To be honest I have never had to leave a bad review in four years of hosting and hundreds of guests. If I did I would have no compunction in doing so and would just do so when I felt it appropriate.
If guests are going to leave a bad review then they will do so.
.
Hi @Sandra856 , if we indeed leave a last-minute review, does the time to leave a review for the guest extend or something?
Hi @Michael6951 🌿
Host and guest got the very same timeframe to review each other and the timeframe won’t get extended 🙂.
Best, Sandra
