Beach house in Galveston, TX

Hi everyone in the Galveston area,

I'm buying a beach house in Galveston near the San Luis bridge.  I'm new to the whole Aribnb hosting thing.  Is it worth listing your your beach house in Galveston?  If it is a good idea to list, any tips on keeping up with the place, maid service, electronic locks on the door, prevention of theft, etc...?

Thanks,

Anthony

Hello @Nassif0

To know whether it is listing you will need to do your own market research.

Have a look at what is already listed for the area - is it a busy market place?

Does it have a lot of tourists/business travellers.

Put together a budget for how much it would cost you to set up and your running costs. Look at what others are charging for similar properties and how often they look booked (check their calendars).

If you are hosting remotely you will need someone on hand locally. Also have video for security and make sure you have insurance for short term lets.

YES!  We are new to Airbnb and have a home in Jamaica Beach (west side) and are amazed at the guests whom have booked with us.  Check out other local listings to insure you know your market, but jump in and have fun!  Debbie (Galveston Island Cottage)

Depends:

1. What makes it worth it to you - break even on property tax, pay your mortgage, etc?

2. How often you will want to use the house for personal use?

3. How much work you want to do yourself or will you use a PM?
