Blocking out Dates

I would like to know when I block a date, is it for check-in or check-out?  For example, if I have only one day available and the date before and after are blocked, does that allow someone to check-in on the available date and check-out on the following unavaialble date?

@Erika140, when you block a date, noone can check in or stay overnight on that date, but a guest can book to stay the previous night and checkout on the blocked date.

For example, if I mark the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd as available, block the 4th, and mark the 5th as available: a guest can stay through the 3rd and check out on the 4th at whatever time you set as check out. No one could book to check in on the 4th, but could on the 5th.

Sorry, to get to your example: if you have the 1st blocked, the 2nd available, and the 3rd blocked, someone could check ion on the 2nd and would have to checkout on the 3rd.
