Booked a hostel, but when we arrived they said it was full, now host is giving me a hard time.

Besides wasting all of our time and lying to us, the host is denying my story after requesting him to cancel. I even attempted to book another place through airbnb that was rejected due to such short notice, so my group had to leave the city and go home( I have the ferry ticket, plus passport stamp). Anyways he said he would talk with airbnb 10 hours ago and so far nada- this makes no sense to me as this case is open and shut. In addition, the hostel had a backup plan for people like us- a drug house around the corner with some mattresses on the floor (we have a picture). Is this even legal? Clearly there is miscommunication between the host and the hostel manager, but the only losers so far are my friends and I. Is this sufficient reason to get this guy banned off of airbnb?

I don't quite understand from your post what has happened here.

Are you saying the person you booked your hostel through is not the owner.

Anyway you need to speak to Airbnb - this is a forum made up of hosts. They should have helped you when you arrived and found the place booked and helped you find somewhere else.

You can flag this host's profile in the meantime.

I assuming the host is a property manager and the hostel is one of his properties of which he has managers working for him.
