Can Airbnb change name of guest who has booked to another?

I have had a guest who is now unable to come due to having flu this evening, she has only just messaged an hour ago. She is asking for her partner to stay to which i respond he will have to send his own booking. Apparently she has spoken with Airbnb who are going to change her details to his? Has anyone else had this before?

I have only heard of changing the lead booker in the case of group bookings if the booker is unable to come, @Clare-and-Coco0. Maybe Airbnb want to show that they can play all tricks on their database? Everything is possible, the question is whether it is in compliance with their own regulations. Imho - it isn't. Your 'contract' was with someone else and you have not agreed to change it. Just look at plane tickets.

Sounds a little odd. Why would the partner come without them? You need more detail.

Thanks both for your reply, the original guest was coming for work. Her partner is now taking her place and covering for her. Airbnb have now added his name as a guest as she originally booked only as staying on her own.
