I booked a reservation at an amazing place. I've been looking forward to staying there for weeks! However, northern California is now burning. (Which is horrible--sacred, gorgeous cathedrals!)
The direct access roads to the town where I am staying have been closed. I don't think it's even possible for me to get to the town. I've never cancelled a reservation before. Do I only get a 50% refund (their policy) or can I request 100% refund because of the disaster? The fires are literally in the way of my stay. My stay begins Friday and today is Tuesday... do I "wait and see" what happens there? I only have a day left to cancel my flight and other hotel reservations. Any advice?
Thank you.
Edmond
This is not a generic situation. Call AirBnB (their number is on your itinerary) and ask for a cancelation with 100% of fees refunded. With all of the natural disasters that have happened recently I am sure they have protocol for this now.
Good luck
Thank you for the reply. I wasn't sure how to handle this.
I am in the same boat. We made reservations to stay in S. Lake Tahoe next week and now Tahoe has been issued a red flag. We are hoping to be refunded as I don't want to be choking on smoke from the wildfires. Airbnb's natural disaster department is supposed to contact me. Let me know what they say to you.
@Marielle52 I am not sure who you are writing to, but the previous person was writing about a different set of fires. Those messages are from October 2017.
You do need to contact Airbnb support to receive a cancellation due to Extenuating Circumstances (the fires), so hopefully you have already started that process.
@Marielle52 Call AirBnB.
