Cancelation after they stayed at my place for over a month and Airbnb refunded them a month later.

I had a guest stay with me for about 2 months. I got paid through Airbnb and everything was fine. Today 1 month after the guest check out I get a notification that they canceled the reservation that had already happened and Airbnb is refunding them the money!?!? What is going on here? Has this happened to anyone else???

@Ash9  Wow!  Not sure this host forum can help you.  Contact Air BNB. If you need help contacting Air BNB, see the community guides on this site.

I contacted them and all they said is we can't tell you what the guest said but we will escalate this. This is scarey for every Airbnb host. If guests can just B.S and get away with something like this we are all doomed.

Are they tring to get the money back from you?

Only AirBnB can tell you what is going on, do weird things happen well yes.  What happened here you need to find out.

So apparently this guest who left me a 5 star postive review filed several bogus complaints. Airbnb never notified me and decided to grant her a full refund. Now they want me to provide documentation that the place was not as she described. I don't know how I can provide documentation of something that doesn't exist. They deducted $6,000 btw.

I have seen similar issues, and what has been done appears to be against ABB own policies.

Then you are asked for something you clearly can not provide and they rule against you for that reason.

I think it is due to ABB having grown so rapidly and having employed more people who do not know what they are doing.

As they give you no method of escalating to someone who might know what they are doing, has been suggested that using Social Media, regular Media to focus the issue and get a response may be the only option.

Hello Ash,

I had a similar exerience from a booking.com guest. They paid though paypal for tr their booking and after they checked out they caleld their card company and did a chargeback.

This has happend about 4 times int he past 3 years for me. Basically if anyone does a transaction they can do a chargback on their card. 99.9% of the time they reudn the money to guets. No matter what the seller says or provides. I had a signed copy of thier passport, cc copy,  video of check in, signed cc autorzation fomr etc. Everyone accpet a blood test. Does not matter.

Credit card companies do not seem to care and f*ck sellers at every angle.  All the cost ends up going to the seller. When its not a tangable good and not shipped, there is no real security.  The credit card companies need to provide a document for sellers to protect themselfs because this is ramant.

ajaj.... Helena had the same problem and she resolved that with Airbnb, so read first few pages of comments and try the same she did.

Good luck and inform us how it ended

Thank you. I was able to get a Airbnb representative on the phone is helping with this situation. Even he is shocked that it happened and he is saying he is going to run it as an insurance claim. Meaning the crazy women will get away with getting all her money back and driving me crazy at the same time. What a waste of time and I'm upset because I feel like at the end if the day she won and just wasted my time. Lets see if and when I get my money back. Mine was 6,000 that they are dedcuting right when my mortgage is due.
