Cancellation with over 30 days notice with a Moderate Cancellation Policy

We have booked a 2 bedroom place for early April which has a Moderate cancellation policy. We just found out we don't need a 2 bedroom and were going to cancel though when I started the cancellation process it said my refund would be xxx.xx minus the airbnb service charge. When you cancel within the policy guidelines do I lose the $80+ for airbnb service charges? Thank you in advance. Susan

That's Airbnb's policy, @Susan875, indeed very fair...

If your reservation was for more than 2 people (assuming so since you booked 2 bedrooms), you could contact the host and change the reservation for 2 people instead of cancelling. Also explain the situation and ask if using only one of the two bedrooms for a lower price is an option and compare prices with cancelling and booking another place. But you will need to decide quickly so that if you do decide to cancel the host has a better chance of getting those rooms booked by someone else. Good luck~
